Buying a property in a typical Barcelona building
Living in a property with a rich architectural past.
As with the building, the homes maintain the same sumptuous style. They usually have coffered ceilings, moldings or beautiful Catalan vaults, colorful hydraulic mosaic floors, solid wood doors, long balconies on the main facade and a gallery at the back of the house.
These homes are characterized by their spaciousness, with views of two facades: one facing the main street with balconies, and another at the rear that gives access to the gallery. Their rooms are extraordinarily spacious, designed to accommodate large furniture. Today, however, many of these residences have been divided in two to better adapt to the needs of contemporary families.
Living in a stately building in Barcelona
On the facade of a stately building we find wrought iron balconies, galleries adorned with vividly colored stained glass windows, countless decorative details, many of them inspired by nature and wildlife. In this type of building, a monumental main door of solid wood usually stands out. The hall of a regal estate is usually very spacious and stately, often with a marble staircase and a wrought iron and wooden elevator, exposing its antique machinery.
