La Bonanova, a neighbourhood with history

This neighbourhood was formerly known as Sant Gervasi de Cassoles, which today is one of the streets of La Bonanova. Previously, it was an area on the outskirts of Barcelona, which due to its unevenness was not very inhabited. Around 1900 it was annexed to Barcelona.

This neighbourhood began to be known by the Catalan bourgeoisie and its urbanisations and buildings increased considerably until it became a residential area with old houses that were passed down from generation to generation, summer houses and even convents and religious schools. It began as a summer village and ended up as a residential area of Barcelona.


What is the Bonanova neighbourhood like nowadays?

The territory of La Bonanova is made up of some famous streets such as La Bonanova, Ganduxer, Mandri or Muntaner. It is a residential neighbourhood with high-level blocks of flats as well as houses in the upper area.
